Barcelona, Spain - Day Three

Today we took a train trip to Girona, Spain. It is only 30 minutes away by train and we wanted to see this beautiful little town. It just happens to be the filming spot for quite a bit of Game of Thrones, so of course it made the itinerary.

We started our day at the great city walls.  You are able to walk across them and see out into the city.  What an amazing view!  And a free activity for us and the kids out in the fresh air.

Streets of Girona.  I can definitely see why they filmed Game of Thrones here.

Our next stop was Girona Cathedral.  We had tickets to enter (a must and it included the other large cathedral in Girona).  This is - for Game of Thrones fans - the Sept of Baylor.  Girona Cathedral's construction began in the early 11th century.  It is one of the widest Catholic cathedrals in the world - only the Vatican is larger across.

So many beautiful buildings

Our next stop was the Arab Baths (also a filming spot for Game of Thrones).  There is a small charge to go into the baths, but I highly recommend it (you can just buy the tickets at the baths).  It is very large and really beautiful.  We enjoyed exploring them

We also stopped at the Basilica de Sant Feliu.  This was the other cathedral our tickets covered (from Girona's Cathedral).  I am glad we went in - it was equally as beautiful and filled with history.  It was built in the 12th century.  It contains the tomb of Narcissus of Girona.

We finished the day walking around the city, exploring the streets and walking across the Eiffel Bridge (which was made by the man who made the Eiffel Tower in Paris).  It really is a beautiful city.  It is only a 30 minute train ride from Barcelona, and we highly recommend putting it on your list.

This is Le Leona. You are supposed to kiss his butt for good luck. Arlington was the only one who did it. (I didn’t actually let her put her mouth on it)It is supposed to give you luck.
